| Information for artists and photographers If you are an artist, including photographic artists, and feel that you have works that could be considered suitable either for one of our existing or future brands then the information below will be of interest. Lets us be blunt, we only want the very best, the finest work, images that have a quality about them that will be valued and enjoyed both now and by future generations. We are able to promote the best in both original art and limited editions. At this time however this is restricted to art that can be hung, ie images. We will leave unmade beds, and last weeks undone washing up for others to promote. Our other restriction is that the art must be able to survive for a long time. Its not that we want to make a statement about what is and is not art, its just that we want those who have it and enjoy it to be able to look on it both as an asset and something that will also benefit future generations. With limited editions, every stage in the process will be carried out with precision and to the very best standards, and we need to know that it has really happened, images have been printed with the right ink, used the right papers, on fully colour managed and profiled systems, has dried fully, and never been touched by hand as well as having been mounted completely in archive material's, this means it has to be published by one of our approved publishers/brands. We can't market through our teams work from less stringently controlled facilities. We appreciate that many artists and others are more interested in producing disposable art, and don't in some cases even agree that work should also be considered an appreciating asset. With originals we are going to ask a load of questions, and will only market work that you as the artist has produced personally, so you can't buy in a load of cheap factory produced repro work from the far east and pass it off as fine art, or splash a bit of spare house paint about, and expect us to be interested. Photographers, can in our view produce some of the finest art images, but its unlikely to be the snapshot that was got by luck and far more likely to be the thought out and planned capture of an image. In nearly all cases the image will have been captured in raw format on a digital SLR camera with a quality lens, you will have at least considered white balance settings, exposure, depth of field and other critical technical points, and recorded the image so that it is sharp, and technically as near perfect as possible and then edited it to improve it further. We do not set file size requirements, but are more interested in the quality of the pixels than number of them. Original art may be marketed as it is or limited edition versions made from it. Limited editions are made by photographing or scanning the original and we can arrange for this to be done. If you choose to provide images of your work for limited edition work then the photography or scanning should be of the same standard as we expect photographic work to. If photographed this should be done accurately, parallel to the work, have correct white balance exposure etc and no reflections. As with any reproduction, it is as good as the weakest link, and we try to eliminate all the features of the weakest links. The ideal first contact is with our local art team of art consultants, they may feel that you should approach one of our approved publishers or that you first need to meet up with a brand co-ordinator when they are in your area. We are planning at some point within the next couple of years to start organising local and national art exhibitions and some competitions and this may also give you the chance to get exposure as well as for our search team and publishers to see just how good your work is.
