The Adam Aaron Studios
Collection, is as the name suggests a collection. This is made up of
selected art, many originals, but some selected limited edition images.
The feature of this Brand is that the images are always a part of the
collection, even after being purchased, and can be exchanged should you feel
like a change or move home or change your decor. Some images within the
collection are not for sale, although some of these can be rented.
The main features of this brand are
selected images, the ability to exchange images that are a part of the
collection and arrangements that make this possible. While many dealers may buy
back some art, if they think they can resell it at a profit, this is unique in
that you get to see the formula involved before you buy an image that is a part
of the collection, and consultants and approved dealers can take back images to
exchange for others, without having to consider if the image being taken will
sell at this time. This of course only sets a minimum, many of the images in the
collection will have appreciated and you can sell them to others if you wish,
passing on the benefits of being a part of the collection to the new purchaser.
While many of the brands promoted by
GB Pictures now have all or most images chipped to avoid forgeries being made,
this is of course of major relevance in the case of this collection. While chips
are added to most other images in the bottom left of the frame, AASC images have
a special encoded chip in the bottom right. Having scanned an image and
identified its chip number all GB Picture consultants, and some others with
scanners will be able to immediately take the image and arrange for the
replacement images required from the collection to be supplied. The reason all
consultants and approved dealers can undertake this is because Adam Aaron
Studios Ltd, both select and supply the images in the collection but also
guarantee to buy back from consultants images that are a part of the collection
according to an agreed formula.
The collection is currently growing,
new images being selected, and added regularly, but has not yet reached the size
where it can be opened up for others to purchase or benefit from the collection.
Adam Aaron Studios Ltd have taken the view that it is far more important to get
the best images and form the very best collection, than to do so to a time
table, and for that reason they have no target date to make images that are a
part of the collection available.
Artists should not contact Adam
Aaron Studios Ltd directly, as they are initially selecting work that is
recommended by the other brands.
For galleries, perhaps we should
explain the economics. Normally as you will know most galleries have a 2.5 times
mark-up, so for example a work bought in at 100 would be sold at 250, this is far
larger than a normal 50% retail mark-up where the same item would be priced at
150. Taking VAT into account this means that a work selling through a gallery
at 250+VAT, a total of 393.75, could only be bought back from a customer at 100,
which would not appeal to the customer greatly. With AASC works, firstly there
is not the same mark-up available initially and when a customer exchanges a work
for another in the collection, they are paying only a fee to do this, and as
their initial work will have probably appreciated in value they are likely to be
getting a credit for it which is greater than the purchase price. The challenge
for the gallery is to view this not as a purchase and sale, but as an ongoing
part of a customer relationship. As the risk is lower, and guaranteed trade in
value known, it is more attractive in the first place and therefore should sell
faster, and faster sales we suggest mean that there is a lower need for large
mark-ups. Large mark-ups only being justified because of larger amounts of slow
moving stock, and high overheads. With other GB Picture brands only the
trade price is set, and retailers, galleries and consultants set their own sale
price, taking into account their cost structures. GB Pictures consultants of
course have very low overheads and also are able to purchase with a discount off
trade, allowing them to sell to businesses, retailers and galleries at trade,
they may be more ideally set up to be able to make the most of the AASC
opportunities, and will of course also be interested in exploring with you other
working arrangements which is mutually beneficial. This as you will see also
greatly benefits the clients who get a super deal and some of the finest art that
Adam Aaron Studios Ltd can find.
The intention is to start to show on
the internet gallery, some of the images that form the collection from the later
part of 2007, and there may be some small releases of available works from that
point on.
